No integrity investigation Central Bank
WILLEMSTAD - There will be no investigation on integrityat the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS). A motion of parliament presented by the opposition to request the Court of Audit to perform this investigation did not make it yesterday in Parliament.
The Parliament of Curaçao met yesterday in response to the secret report from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). The Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim said that the PWC’s investigation focused only on the functioning of the Bank.
The opposition MPs stated in their intervention in parliament, that Jardim was too soft on the Central Bank. They were not satisfied with the minister’s answers.
“I have clearly said that all organs at the Central Bank have failed. How can this be interpreted as being too mild for the CBCS?” said the minister.
Jardim rejected all the reprimands addressed to him during the meeting stating that either the MPs did not listen to his speech or did not receive the answers they had hoped for.
