No more permits for foreign cooks and waiters
WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro recently announced that his Ministry will not grant employment permits for foreigners who want to come to Curaçao to work as cooks or waiters.
According to the Minister this measure is necessary because there are plenty of locals who can work as cooks or waiters. “I believe we have sufficient local personnel to fill these jobs. We have to protect jobs for our local people,” said the Minister.
The Minister also said that US citizens wishing to stay on the island for more than six months should do the same procedure that applies to Dutch citizens.
