No sport in the portfolio Minister Dick

Irene DickWILLEMSTAD - The new Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (OWCS) Irene Dick does not get the full sports portfolio under her care. This was confirmed by Prime Ivar Asjes during a recent interview on the radio.

“The executive part which is done by the sports organizations Sedreko and FFDK are under my political responsibility,” Asjes indicated.

According to the Prime Minister this is nothing new and has been like this since the beginning of the Cabinet Asjes.

“We want to separate the implementation of policies and the supervision, but also sports has to do with nation building and that is my political responsibility.”

According to the Prime Minister, sports policy and supervision is the responsibility of the Minister of Education.

The new Minister wants to appoint the former chairman of the Dutch Antilles Olympic Committee, NAOC, Junior Millerson, as an advisor within her ministry, but that might not receive the approval of her party Pueblo Soberano (PS).

Premier Asjes does not confirm this information, but says that he is not aware of the advisors of Minister Dick.

“That proposal was never done to me and I have no information. I do not know who Minister Dick’s advisors are.” According to Asjes, Dick has not presented any advisors yet, because they must be approved by the Council of Ministers.
