Opening Interparliamentary Conference in The Hague
THE HAGUE – The opening of the Interparliamentary Conference (IPKO) took place on Wednesday May 27 in The Hague. Parliamentary delegations from Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten traveled to the Netherlands to meet with their colleagues from the Dutch Senate and the Lower House.
During the official opening of the conference, the President of the Curaçao Parliament, Marcoline Franco spoke on behalf of the Curaçao delegation. Mr. Franco emphasized on trust between the countries of the Kingdom, just as was the case during other IPKO’s. Franco hopes that there will be concrete results which are beneficial to the people of each country.
An example of the good results of former IPKO’s is the agreement on cooperation for the betterment of the public health and also to ease the debts of former students. Topics such as the possibility to use the I.D. card as a travel document between the islands will be one of the topics during this year’s IPKO.
This IPKO will be from the 27th till the 29th of May.
