PAIS: “Case Magnus should not be treated in courthouse”

CourtWILLEMSTAD – The political party PAIS is worried about the fact that the Court of Justice has chosen to treat the case Magnus in the courthouse in downtown Punda, while there are other options at more secured locations with more space. These locations are outside downtown and would not create problems for traffic, people and businesses.

President of the party, Mike Franco knows that the decision is up to the President of the Court of Justice. But he believes that this is not just another case. “In my opinion, this is a particular case, not just a regular one. In many countries in the world, cases like these take place in other more spacious locations, which can handle more people without becoming a problem for traffic and businesses. Locations that are much safer than downtown,” the party president said.

Leader of the party, Alex Rosaria also indicates that he believes it’s a bad decision to hold the hearing in the courthouse, which is right in the heart of downtown. “We all know that there are many who are interested in following this case, but Punda is not easily accessible for all of them. We have to think about our image as a tourist destination. Imagine when our visitors see all these armed forces guarding the courthouse,” the political leader said.

Alex Rosaria hopes that the Court will reconsider their decision.
