PAIS demands clarity on statement President Maduro

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro speaks during a news conference at Miraflores Palace in CaracasWILLEMSTAD – The leader of the coalition party PAIS, Alex Rosaria demands clarification on the statement made by President Nicolás Maduro. The Venezuelan president said in a nationally televised speech that the country has the right to defend himself in the skies above Curaçao.

According to the President, this is necessary because of a failed assassination attempt, which took place in the presidential palace. The intention was, according to Maduro, to bomb the palace by an aircraft. The Hague was informed about it according to Maduro.

"Unpleasant surprise"

"I am surprised by this statement. The members of parliament have in fact no information on this matter. It should not be that a neighbor just decides to expand its zone defense,” said the PAIS leader.

In a letter to Prime Minister Ivar Asjes Rosaria wants answers to some questions. The PAIS MP wants to know whether the Prime Minister, as the Minister responsible for international affairs, had already been aware of this and has given approval.

He also wants to answer whether the Government of Venezuela and the Kingdom have reached this decision together. He also wants to know what the consequences will be for our island.
