PAIS: ‘More budget cuts are possible’

Alex RosariaWILLEMSTAD - The request of the Minister of Administration, Planning and Services (BPD), Etienne van der Horst (PAIS), for the Members of Parliament to follow the ministers’ example to freeze the indexation and halving the holiday bonus from January 1 this year to 2016, will be likely discussed in a Parliamentary meeting this week.

“And we will come together in Parliament as soon as possible to discuss how we can tackle this,” the PAIS leader, Alex Rosaria said.

According to Rosaria it is not about if we are going to cut, but where and how they will go about this.

Rosaria also indicated that the civil service and the Members of Parliament don’t have to follow exactly the example of the ministers, but could cut down on other matters like home phone compensations or vacation bonuses.

“For me, the fee for the house phone may otherwise be completely abolished. There are many other ways we can cut,” Rosario said.
