Palm: “We have to collect those 93 million guilders in tourist tax”
WILLEMSTAD – After the recent announcement of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim that there are approximately 100 million guilders in tourist tax to be collected from the hotels and other accommodations, the Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm responded; “From what I understand there is a substantial amount owed to the Government. But this has to be collected by the Tax Collector.”
Palm minister stressed the need for the collection of these funds since there's now a tourism master plan is ready to be implemented. This plan includes the recommendation to raise 40 million guilders for the next five years and invest in the tourism sector.
This investment is intended to facilitate the implementation of the strategy as set forth in the master plan. Such a large investment is intended for the marketing efforts for further reorientation of the US market.
