Personal data protection act in force

Minister van der HorstWILLEMSTAD - The law on protection of personal data, Protection Decree, entered into force on October 1 of this year. Minister of Government policy and service, Etienne van der Horst announced this at the weekly press conference in Fort Amsterdam. The law ensures that the local and international use of personal information is protected.

The law also ensures that people know what is happening with their data and where it may be stored.
A Data Protection Committee is installed to ensure that the law truly gives the guarantee of protection.

Government Accountants (SOAB), together with the policy department of the Ministry Government Planning and Services are temporarily entrusted with this task until the board is installed.
