Plasterk: “Curaçao is doing well”
WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao government takes its responsibility of tackling money laundering seriously. This is what the Dutch Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk wrote in a concise answer to a long series of questions asked by the Dutch Member of Parliament for the Socialist Party, Ronald van Raak.
The Dutch Minister is also ahead of the general consultation on crime and the Curaçao Intelligence Agency (VDC) next Tuesday.
Van Raak asked for an overview of ongoing investigations into politicians and businessmen, figures from the telecommunication company UTS, the financing of the political party MFK and the interests of the Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm.
The answers given by Minister Plasterk are even shorter than a previous reaction to questions of Van Raak on the same subject. Law enforcement and monitoring of the VDC and the gambling sector are autonomous affairs of the island, Plasterk writes.
