Plasterk does not interfere with VDC and gaming sector Curacao
WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch Minister of Kingdom Affairs, Ronald Plasterk said to the Dutch Parliament that he will not interfere with the Curaçao Intelligence Agency (VDC) and the gambling sector on the island.
It was the Member of Parliament of the Dutch Socialist Party, Ronald van Raak, who asked the Minister to interfere because of a potential integrity problem with the VDC. Recently Van Raak indicated that information about the Dutch Secret Service (AIVD) and the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is probably in the hands of the wrong people. The Dutch MP said that the gambling mafia in Curaçao managed to buy the VDC.
Minister Plasterk said that the VDC and the gambling sector are internal issues that have to be resolved by the authorities in Curaçao.
The Dutch Minister also said that he will intervene in Sint Maarten, because the government of that island does not want to work together to tackle corruption.
