Plasterk looks at regional role hospital Otrobanda
WILLEMSTAD - Minister Plasterk of Kingdom Relations hopes that the new hospital in Otrobanda will get a regional function. He indicated this during his short visit to Curaçao. The Dutch Minister requested a visit to the construction site of the new hospital in Otrabanda as part of his one day visit.
Plasterk’s colleague, the Dutch Minister of Healthcare dismissed the current hospital in Curaçao as a regional hospital because the health care would be inadequate. Consequently, patients from other islands are now transferred to hospitals in Colombia or Guadeloupe for specialist treatment.
Minister Whiteman said that there are 22 million guilders reserved for training in the new hospital. Because a new building does not guarantee better care, according to the Minister.
