Plea for code of conduct civil servants
WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Administration, Planning and Government Services, Etienne van der Horst is currently working on a code of conduct for civil servants. This code is part of an internal integrity process. This is according to the Minister during the Tenth Statutory Congress of the civil servants’ union ABVO.
Former Governor of the Netherlands Antilles and former President of the Court of Justice, Jaime Sale also recommended a code of conduct for civil servants during the opening of the congress yesterday.
In his speech, Saleh insisted on the importance of ethical government, but also honest officials. It was in this context, that he noted the need for a code of conduct for both officials and public employees.
According to the Minister this code must fit into a new integrity project that the government wants to introduce. There is also room for an integrity committee. The Minister states that this committee is going to function as a regulator for the integrity policy of the government.
