PNP Party stands behind Davelaar
WILLEMSTAD - Humphrey Davelaar is and remains the political leader of the PNP. An overwhelming majority of the members has made that clear during a general meeting.
Davelaar was under pressure due to the policy pursued by him and his involvement in the Fundashon Amigunan Sirbidó (Serving Friends’ Foundation).
Davelaar asked for clarity during the meeting. In 2016 there are elections again and he wanted to know if the party is still behind him. According to Secretary Kenneth Martis, both the Board and the members made it clear by acclamation that they support Davelaar.
At the end of the meeting, a few members presented a motion to dismiss Earl Balborda as Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning. He’s PNP’s only minister in the current government. The Board did not believe that this motion was appropriate. “We’ve been talking about unity and now they want to present a motion like this? I don’t think it’s appropriate at all. It’s not even based on facts,” said the President of the party.
