Pre elections for seven parties
WILLEMSTAD - Seven parties will have to participate in the pre elections round on August 13 and 14 of this year. They have to do this to be able to participate in the coming elections on September 30, 2016.
Among those seven parties there are old acquaintances such as Frente Obrero (Labor Front) and Partido Demokrat (Democratic Party). There are also newcomers such as Un Korsou Hustu from the Independent Member of Parliament, Omayra Leeflang (former PAR member) and Un Tim Magon from Aubert Wiels (brother of former Pueblo Soberano leader Helmin Wiels).
The electoral law requires that parties with no seats in the current parliament must prove their support in the society. On these days they need to submit 894 signatures to the Supreme Electoral Council. This is 1% of the number of voters from the previous election.
