Pre-pensioners will go to court

Omayra LeeflangWILLEMSTAD – The action group Hustitia Penshonado (HP) has set up a group with the aim to assemble all issues concerning the pre-retirees. Once the group has collected all information they will make an objection. “With this objection we will seek legal counsel and file for a lawsuit against the government,” according to HP founder, Omayra Leeflang.

“This year, we will conclude with an appeal, after which we will begin walking the legal route next year. We have already seen that at the moment when the pensioners did complain about the Basic Medical Insurance (BVZ), it loosened things a bit. Suddenly there were funds available. Although things are not yet regulated by law, there are now all kinds of commitments. From this perspective, the pre-retirees indicated that they want to take their case to court,” Leeflang said.

Earlier Leeflang indicated that the retirement age was increased to 65 years without a transitional arrangement. This means that workers who will soon retire will have a hole of 862 guilders in their monthly income because the pension will be paid after they turn 65, according to the MP.
