Prime Minister fails to give explanations about suspicious RdK Director
WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath failed to attend the weekly press conference of the Council of Ministers. A missed opportunity, since he could have explained the developments at the public company Refineria di Korsou, Curaçao Refinery (RdK).
Last week the director of the RdK Roderick van Kwartel was sent on a mandatory leave of absence.
This was decided by the Supervisory Board during an emergency meeting. An attempt to bribe Van Kwartel by a party that participates in the strategic partnership of the refinery is the reason, the RdK said in a press release. A complaint has been filed by the government.
As Minister of General Affairs, Rhuggenaath has the refinery in his portfolio and so it was obvious that he would present during the press conference. This was not the case.
