Prime Minister Ruggenaath with delegation to Brussels

Rhuggenaath1WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath is going to Brussels today to lead the ministerial delegation to participate in the EU-OCT Forum and the OCT Ministerial Conference.

The Ministerial meeting represented by the political leaders of all OCTs worldwide, with the participation of European Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Directorate for Development Cooperation and Member States is the highest decision-making body of the OCTs.

The agenda includes climate change and its effects, biodiversity, regional integration and the 11th European Development Fund.

The EU-OCT Forum strives to manifest as great a synergy between the Overseas Countries and Territories as possible and to coordinate the interventions and (possible) investments. Also on the agenda is the 'departure' of the British OCTs in response to the Brexit and a new partnership with the EU after 2020.

The OCTs, which are the Overseas Countries and Territories, have been organizing the EU-LGO Forum since 2002, in cooperation with the European Commission. The Prime Minister will stay there until 24 February.
