Prime Minister Stanley Betrian Meets With Dutch Representatives

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao interim Prime Minister Stanley Betrian recently received a delegation from the Dutch Representation in Willemstad for an official visit.

The delegation consisted of the Dutch representative Gerard van der Wulp, his deputy director Patricia Grolle as well as the director of Kingdom Relations, Erwin Arkenbout.

During the visit topics discussed included the relations within the Kingdom. Interim Prime Minister Betrian spoke out about the continuation of the constructive relationship between the two countries in the Kingdom.

The Dutch Representation is an outpost of the Netherlands, with offices in 3 countries Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten.

The Dutch Representation authorities represent The Netherlands at the governments of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten. In addition, Dutch citizens residing in these countries  can contact the representative office staff to ask questions about their drivers’ license, voting issues and consular assistance in emergency situations.

Dutch Representation Mission:

  • advise the Dutch Minister of the Interior about government policies for Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Aruba;
  • provide information about the Netherlands' policy. To carry out this task the Representation is in close contact with the offices of the three countries, government departments and other public bodies;
  • report to the Dutch Minister on how the policies are implemented and experienced;
  • accompany Dutch ministers, secretaries of state and delegations on official visits to Dutch Caribbean islands;
  • provide assistance to Dutch nationals who have gotten into trouble on the islands.

In addition, the Representative shall:

  • perform electoral tasks (parliamentary elections, European elections, referenda);
  • provide information about Dutch driving license, obtaining attestations the Vitae and applications for one-off payments to war veterans;
  • provide consular assistance to Dutch passport holders who are registered in the Netherlands and in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten and are held as detainees.
