Prime Minister: “We will offer the Venezuelan Consul full assistance”

Premier AsjesWILLEMSTAD – The Prime Minister of Curacao, Mr. Ivar Asjes, during a press conference, informed that the Government of Curacao has taken notice of the incident in Aruba in which a Venezuelan citizen has caused damage to the Venezuelan consular office.

The Prime Minister immediately convened an urgent meeting with his councilors. After this meeting he called the Venezuelan Consul, Mrs. Sonia Alvarado Rossel, to offer her the necessary assistance. In consultation with the Minister of Justice, Mr. Nelson Navarro, the Prime Minister has made this decision.

Afterwards the Prime Minister contacted his Aruban counterpart, Mr. Mike Eman, to offer assistance and also receive the necessary information about the incident. Furthermore, the Director of the Office of Foreign Relations and the Chief of Police are in contact with their Aruban counterparts to receive information about the ongoing investigation on the incident which happened early this morning.

Prime Minister Asjes informed the media that the Government has been following the tense situation in Venezuela. The Government hopes that all parties involved can have a constructive dialogue to resolve their differences in the interest of the Venezuelan people.
