Rush with privacy ordinance

Alex RosariaWILLEMSTAD - Leader of the political party PAIS, Alex Rosaria, is deeply concerned that the implementation of the Data Protection Ordinance is still in gestation. The PAIS member of Parliament has asked questions to Minister Etienne van der Horst (Government planning) to inform Parliament on this subject, but has not received a response.

The right to privacy is according to Rosaria not only a fundamental right of the citizen Curaçao, but is also a very important tool for international financial services, as well as in the positioning of the island as a trading center.

“The ability to offer an adequate level of protection is very important to attract new businesses and to retain established companies in Curacao. This includes, for example, the Curacao Technology Exchange NV (CTEX)” said the PAIS-leader as an example. Rosaria therefore wants to approach the Minister of Administration, Planning and Services with a question: "Why are you standing in the way of a National Decree on implementation of the Data Protection Ordinance?"
