Rutte will not respond to fuss about Wiels

Mark RutteWILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Mark Rutte will not substantively respond to the outcry over the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curacao, Marvelyne Wiels. She came into disrepute because of cronyism and resume fraud.

Rutte: “On 18 December of last year, you requested my reaction to the progress and outcome of the debate on 16 December, 2013 in the Curacao Parliament on the position of the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curacao in the Netherlands. It is not the Prime Minister, Minister of General Affairs to assess, in his capacity as Chairman of the Council of Ministers or Chairman of the Kingdom Council of Ministers, the procedures of application and appointment to positions in countries other than the Netherlands. The same applies to the assessment of the progress and outcome of a debate in the parliament in one of the other countries in the Kingdom. The Charter for the Kingdom provides that the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curacao is appointed by the Government of Curacao. The Parliament of Curacao monitors the decisions of the Government of Curacao. This check is performed by the conduct and outcome of the debate in the Parliament of Curacao on 16 December 2013.”
