Schotte afraid of being poisoned

Gerrit SchotteWILLEMSTAD - Former Prime Minister and leader of the political party MFK, Gerrit Schotte is afraid to be poisoned in jail. This is according to radio host Dwight Rudolphina from Radio MAS. Rudolphina said that Schotte is cautious about accepting the food he gets served by prison guards.

It is not clear whether the radio host received this information from credible sources. Schotte’s lawyer, Eldon ‘Peppie’ Sulvaran was not available for comment. Sulvaran was on the radio show this morning threatening some news sites that published Gerrit Schotte’s story.

Schotte and his girlfriend Cicely van der Dijs were arrested last Tuesday in connection with the criminal investigation 'Babel'. Both are suspected of forgery and money laundering. Van der Dijs was set free two days later, but remains a suspect in the case.

Schotte’s detention was extended yesterday by the magistrate to eight days. This means that the former Prime Minister will be in jail till at least until Friday. Until then, the prosecutor will consider if, after those eight days, Schotte should continue behind bars in the interest of the investigation. If it is necessary, then the detention will be extended to 8 more days.
