Schotte MP accuses President of Central Bank of bribery

schotte_parlement_mei2013WILLEMSTAD – According to a press release from the leader of the opposition party Gerrit Schotte MP, there are shady transactions, which, for many years, have been validated by the Central Bank. There are also wrongful actions that cannot see the light of the day at the financial institution. Among these, there are the reports of the Audit Department and the Dutch PricewaterhouseCoopers on the mismanagement of Emsley Tromp.

“Shady financial transactions that supposedly must be monitored and inspected by the Central Bank are being covered and hidden by the current management of the highest financial institution of the island. Even though they have boycotted the Audit Department (AD) to enter the Central Bank, the AD, in their report, indicated various irregularities. There was also an investigation which has resulted in a report from the Dutch PricewaterhouseCoopers that is being held by the current government of Sint Maarten. Prime Minister Ivar Asjes and the current coalition have also made a deal with the Central Bank for personal gain,” Schotte indicated in his press release.

Schotte also said that everything indicates that every two weeks, politicians from Sint Maarten and the President of the Central Bank meet each other in Miami to talk about the businesses that are being conducted between them. They also talk about how to safeguard Tromp. Any country where the authorities and the government respect its citizens will start an investigation after receiving a report like the one from PricewaterhouseCoopers. Not only on Emsley Tromp, but also Directors of certain banks who, in the last 10 to 15 years, have made themselves guilty of serious infractions. There are also politicians who do business with Tromp in exchange for financial protection.

“Tromp is also accustomed to negotiating with the government about who will enter the Central Bank as a member of the Supervisory Board. This is to make sure he controls them and not vice versa. Employees, who, during the 22 years of Tromp’s reign, have opened their mouth to signal shady businesses, were either fired or intimidated,” Schotte said.

The press release also claims that Tromp’s old friends, who are upset with him, started to talk about his actions in the past and that those actions are more serious than we can ever imagine. Tromp has a network of corruption right next to our financial circuit.

“The discussion to dollarize Curacao, instead of using a coin that is connected to the dollar, is also a way for Tromp to close the administration of the Antillean guilder, which obviously, is a fraud. This is to close all doors on heavy discussions which will really question what happened in the Central Bank during all those years,” Schotte said.
