Sitek again in talks with Ministers

sitek1WILLEMSTAD - Today at 14:00's education union Sitek will sit around the table with Minister of Education, Irene Dick and Minister of Government Service, Etienne van der Horst.

Sitek will ask for clarification on their concerns about the responsibility of the Ministers at the centrally organized consultations Tribunal for Civil Servant’s Affairs. Earlier there was confusion because Minister Dick was for the budget cuts, which affects education as a whole and Minister Van der Horst was for the cuts that affect the teachers personally.

Last Thursday, Minister Dick announced that the planned austerity measures for education will be banned from the table for the time being, because officials of her ministry have not had sufficient time to discuss these cuts with the people working in the education sector. President of the teachers’ union, Dario Plantijn, stated that he would like to see disciplinary action taken against the Minister’s advisors.

Last Friday Sitek met with the Minister of Education to further discuss the course of action regarding possible austerity measures in the education sector. There will probably be more clarity on this issue during the meeting with Minister Van der Horst this afternoon.
