Sitek will not join Central Committee of Trade Unions

PlantijnWILLEMSTAD - On Monday, Education Trade Union Sitek met again with the Ministers Etienne van der Horst of Government Services and Planning and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Irene Dick. Following this consultation, the Sitek President Darius 'Lio' Plantin persists in his decision not to join the Central Committee of Trade Unions.

In his opinion, the work situation of the members of Sitek is quite different compared to the civil servants. There are differences such as working hours, overtime and holiday periods and therefore the union leader sees no added value to join the Central Committee, which does all the preparations for the  discussions of the so-called Central Organized Consultation of Civil Servants.

This coming Friday Plantijn, Van der Horst and Dick will meet again regarding the continuation of any action to be taken in the education sector. Earlier Plantijn announced that the members of the trade union, the teachers, will not show up at school after the summer vacation if the measures are not withdrawn.
