Small and medium sized enterprises high on Minister Palm’s priority list

Stanley Palm1WILLEMSTAD – Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) will be high on Minister Stanley Palm’s priority list. Minister Palm declared this yesterday after he was sworn in as the new Minister of Economic Development. He also said that he will continue with former Minister Steven Martina’s economic policy. He explained that he had a lot of contact with Mr. Martina before the change of the guard. The list left behind by former Minister Martina will be continued.

Mr. Palm indicated that during Mr. Martina’s 5 month term as Minister there were many projects started. There were also different stocktaking in the Departments resorting under his portfolio but also in the private sector. But according to Mr. Palm, he will not waste much time and will make sure to execute these projects.

Minister Palm admits that he faces many challenges. He’s new in politics. He believes that SMEs should be supported since they are the backbone of the economy. It’s a sector which contributes to the labor force and economy of Curacao.

“Personally I think we should put more effort in the SMEs,” Minister Palm concluded.
