SMOC: “Koenders needs to redo his homework”
WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bert Koenders has to redo its homework. This is according to the Clean Environment Foundation in Curaçao (SMOC).
According to the environmentalists Koenders exaggerates on the economic impact the refinery has on the economy of the island. Koenders stated in his report that 10 percent of what all Curaçaoans receive as income originates from the activities of the refinery.
SMOC refers Koenders to two reports from the government and the Central Bank indicating that it is only 5 percent. SMOC ads that the Dutch minister has thus wrongly informed his parliament.
