SOAB investigates senior SOAW officials

Jeanne-Marie-FranciscaWILLEMSTAD - The Government Accountants Bureau (SOAB) is investigating the performance of senior officials of the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare. These officials were suspended in May of this year by the former Minister Sherwin Josepha. This is according to Minister Jean Marie Fransisca in the Dutch morning newspaper Antilliaans Dagblad.  The Minister reported that a final decision on the future of these top officials depends on the result of the investigation.

These officials are Government mediator, Mr. Anthony Obispo, Sector Director, Mrs. Donate “Donna” Philbert, Secretary-General, Oswald Dalnoot and policy director, Victor Monk. The former Minister said that there was a ‘lack of confidence’ between him and the 5 directors of the Ministry and that was the reason why he suspended them. Minister Fransisca did not want to comment on the reason for the suspension but reiterated that she will wait for the results of the investigation.

JosephaThe conflict between Josepha and directors, including land mediator Anthony Obispo, caused a lot of attention in the media. Officially, the five are still in service and continue to be paid.
