Success Airberlin Curaçao route overshadowed
WILLEMSTAD - Airberlin transported last Tuesday its 50 thousandth passenger to Curaçao. 40 percent of the passengers were German tourists.
The success of the connection to Dusseldorf is overshadowed by the news that members of the Curaçao Tourist Bureau (CTB) and the Curaçao Tourist Board were given free tickets to fly with the German airline.
It is possible that this influenced the decision to bring in a second weekly flight.
The seat guarantee, which this entails could be very costly for Curaçao. Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm indicated this week that he has commissioned the Government Accountants Bureau to investigate the CTB.
