Successful working visit Prime Minister Ben Whiteman to Brussels
BRUSSELS - Under the presidency of the Association of Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTA), the Prime Minister Dr. Ben Whiteman paid a working visit to Brussels from October 19 till 21.
On October 20th, 2015, the Prime Minister, during the information day of OCTA, entitled, "OCTs from the Poles to the Tropics: promoting sustainable growth", held a speech. The information day was marked by expanding the visibility of OCTA and its partners in Brussels. During the information day, the following topics were discussed, climate change, sustainable energy, health and innovation. These issues are high on the list of the 22 OCT members of OCTA.
The same afternoon, the Prime Minister acted as a speaker at a conference chaired by the European Parliament, Mr. Maurice Ponga. This conference is a continuation of the international conference that took place in October 2014 in Guadeloupe and was dedicated to climate change and biodiversity. A delegation of Curaçao has participated. The aim of this conference in Brussels was to evaluate the implementation of the so-called "Message from Guadeloupe", a plan of action to combat climate change and loss of biodiversity in the countries and territories of the European Union.
