Support for parties without parliamentary seat
WILLEMSTAD - Next weekend, citizens of Curaçao will have to show their support to the six political parties that do not have a seat in Parliament. There will be nine polling stations on the island where this can take place.
According to the law, these parties should each receive 792 signatures of support. That is 1 percent of the votes cast in the elections of last October.
The six parties which have to show that they have sufficient support to participate in the elections are: Democratic Party, Movementu Push, Movementu Kousa Prome, Frente Obrero, Partido Aliansa Nobo, Partido Inovashon Nashonal and Liberalismo Klasiko Komunidat di Kòrsou.
The supporters have to present valid photo identification at the polls. There they receive the support ticket. Support tickets on which something is drawn or written, are not valid. If someone makes a mistake during the voting, it is possible to receive a new ticket from the president of the polling station. But this is permitted only once. The tickets are deposited in the box.
Voters can go to the following polling stations: Kranshi in Otrabanda, Sentro di Bario Montaña, Sentro di Bario Sta. Maria, Skol Marieta Alberto Koraalspecht, Kolegio San Hosé Barber and A. E. Goiloschool Julianadorp.
Prisoners can also vote in prison on Saturday and Sunday.
