Supreme Electoral Council turns in final report on parliamentary council

Supreme CouncilWILLEMSTAD – The Supreme Electoral Council (KSE) turned in the final report on the parliamentary elections which was held on October 19, 2012 to the Minister of Government planning and Public Service, Mr. Etienne van der Horst. With this final report, KSE gives an account of all its works and procedures during the 2012 elections. KSE’s most important tasks were to ensure the transparency of the elections and to guarantee the privacy of the voters.

With the mandate KSE received from the Minister of Government Planning and Public Service, it could have complied with these tasks independently. KSE reported that the elections were very structured and had no remarkable incident. KSE does not only report on its activities but also advices the Government on how elections could be best organized in the future. Some of these councils were already executed by the Minister.

A committee will be formed to investigate the possibilities of a Curacao Electoral Council. Objective of this Electoral Council is to work more independently than it was the case with the current KSE. The Supreme Electoral Council consists of Mr. Geomaly Martes (President), Mrs. Lizanne Dindial, Mr. Theo Caris, Mr. Edward Panneflek, Mr. Chares do Rego, Mr. Anthmar Kranwinkel, Mr. Raymond Romer and Mr. Irvin Roosburg.
