Team Magno continues with their fight for independence

aubert-wiels-640x567WILLEMSTAD – The focus of the new political movement ‘1 Team Magno was made clear during their official launch on Sunday May 11. The focus is; Independence for Curacao.”We just want to be free. Independence and also decolonization.” These are words from the new leader, Aubert Wiels, brother of the murdered politician Helmin Wiels.

He is the last of a dozen speakers who spoke to about two hundred listeners. According to Wiels, Tim Magno has also a section on Bonaire and Aruba. "It is time that we tell our mom (The Netherlands) that it is okay and that we will stand on our own two feet." Caribbean Network was present and reported on the official launch of Tim Magno.

The fans in the front row clapped hard for Aubert. They seem to have found their new leader. Several speakers indicated that they were candidates on the Pueblo Soberano (PS) list before, including former chairman of the PS board Donny Balentina, but also number twelve on the list Shirley Cuffy. “Let them criticize that our numbers are few here. Helmin has also begun with fifteen people under a kenepa tree.”

Helmin Wiels’ long time partner, Betty da Fonte was standing at the T-shirt sales stand. “I'm here because Tim Magno will continue with Helmin’s fight for independence. Pueblo Soberano is not doeing that anymore.”

Former ministers Rubinia Bitorina and Carlos Trinidad also support the movement. According to former board members Balentina and Aubert Wiels, Trinidad would have been the intended prime minister, and the name Asjes was never mentioned.
