The Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao, in consultation with Kingdom Ambassadors
THE HAGUE - The Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao, Marvelyne Wielse participated at the ambassadors' conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 29 and 30.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands has a global network of around 140 offices. Once a year they meet to discuss developments in the Netherlands, the policy of the government and the main points. The conference this year consisted of meetings with political, business and civil society.
In this context, the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao was invited by the Dutch Parliament to participate in a seminar on Kingdom Relations and Economic Cooperation with Latin America (with ambassadors in Latin America and the Caribbean).
Last Wednesday the Minister Plenipotentiary together with Kingdom Ambassadors that are stationed in the western hemisphere, met with MPs from the Standing Committee on Kingdom Relations and Foreign Affairs. There were extensive discussions about what their posts could mean for the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom.
For the Minister Plenipotentiary, the theme of the meeting was positive and they indicated the need to continue cooperation, especially in the areas of knowledge, with the ambassadors / Caribbean countries. A good example of collaboration within the Kingdom is the collaboration of Curaçao with the UN Security Council. Curaçao performs along with the other three countries of the Kingdom campaign to join the UN Security Council.
The fact that the Kingdom is well situated in Europe and the Caribbean it can establish a link between two continents and several groups of countries. “We are a gateway to both Europe and Latin America.”
