Thodé suspect in a criminal investigation
WILLEMSTAD – Member of Parliament for the opposition party MFK, Amerigo Thodé is a suspect in a criminal investigation. This was reported by the leader of the MFK party, Gerrit Schotte in a press release. According to the party, this is clearly a political persecution.
Apparently, the President of Parliament, Mike Franco has pressed charges against the MFK MP. The reason for this action is that, according to Franco, there is hard evidence that Thode has recorded a confidential meeting between the MPs and the Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT). Thode also made these recordings public through the former minister of finance and fellow MFK member, George Jamaloodin.
Political importance
According to Schotte, the Public Prosecutor (OM) "does not help to improve Curacao, but instead add to divisions within the community.” The prosecution used its power of political interest to bring the MFK down,” Schotte said.
