Too little evidence of attempted bribery Member of Parliament Plet

yael-plet-2 (1)WILLEMSTAD - The National Investigation Team Curaçao has conducted an investigation under the direction of the Public Prosecutor into an attempt to bribe Member of Parliament Yaël Plet by the opposition MPs Gerrit Schotte and Charles Cooper.

According to the accusation filed by Plet, the two opposition MPs have offered a lot of money if he would drop his support to the Koeiman Cabinet at the time. Plet filed a complaint on February 18, 2017.

The Public Prosecutor announced that the investigation in the case that was called 'Wilhelmina' lasted longer than intended. This is because in particular the reading of the digital data took a lot of time. In the criminal investigation, it was established that there was sufficient reason for suspicion and for the house searches carried out on April 5 of the previous year. Now that the investigation has been completed, there appears to be insufficient evidence of attempted bribery. For that reason, the Attorney General has dismissed the case today.
