Treatment Babel case postponed
WILLEMSTAD - The pre-trial of the Babel case is held until further notice. This was announced to the Public Prosecutor (OM) by the Common Court of Justice.
The reason for the postponement is that the lawyers of the former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte and life partner Cicely van der Dijs need more time to study the case. Their request was granted by the court.
The OM regrets this decision but said that they will await the announcement of the new date for the pre-trial.
Earlier this month it was announced that the appeal of the Babel case will be on August 11.
The former Prime Minister and his partner were convicted of corruption, money laundering and forgery by the court of first instance. This time, their fate will be determined by three judges.
