Tromp warns against splitting Central Bank
WILLEMSTAD - Emsley Tromp believes that any split in the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten is not a good idea. He announced that yesterday during a press conference in Philipsburg.
He was in Sint Maarten for the presentation of the Annual Report 2014.
The President of the Central Bank also advised against a possible dollarization of both economies. Without its own currency and separate from each other the two countries don’t have much more, but to be at the mercy of the policies of other countries.
But, he added quickly that a decision is not up to the Bank but in the politicians’ hands.
