United States not pleased with the Netherlands

carvajal-GORANJESTAD – The United States of America is not pleased at all with the Netherlands. The U.S. is disappointed with the actions of the Netherlands on Sunday which led to the release of the former Venezuelan general Hugo Carvajal. According to the U.S., Venezuela considers Carvajal a consul, but for the U.S. he is not a diplomat. The reason why the U.S. is so disappointed is because they consider Carvajal a dangerous criminal. This is why they do not agree with the release.

The charges against Carvajal are serious. The U.S. wants Carvajal for his cooperation and relation with the Colombian guerrilla group FARC by supplying weapons. He is also involved in drug trafficking.

Another reason why the U.S. is not pleased is how the Netherlands is interpreting the Vienna treaty by considering Carvajal a diplomat. The U.S. emphasizes that Carvajal is not a diplomat in Aruba because he was not accredited by the Netherlands. The U.S. knows that Venezuela is putting pressure on Aruba and Curaçao to release Carvajal. But the U.S. indicated that they will continue to work in the fight against injustice.
