Update: Former minister Constancia suspected of fraud
WILLEMSTAD - Jacinta Constancia, former Minister of Public Health and current Member of Parliament, representing opposition party MFK, was arrested on suspicion of fraud, embezzlement, money laundering and forgery last Monday.
According to the latest information, the Public Prosecution had requested for Constancia to report at the police station for interrogation. She was also requested to bring extra clothing. She was then arrested during the interrogation.
Constancia is a suspect in a case that played between 2010 and 2012, when she was a minister. In that case, more than 300,000 Antillean guilder (just over 170,000 dollars) was paid for the purchase of mouth masks for medical purposes. The items were never delivered.
Earlier, in the case house searches took place in the house of Constancia’s mother and her former husband. Constancia then told the press that she knew nothing about the whole thing and is not guilty of anything.
Constancia (1973) is a member of the MFK party of former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte. Schott is also a suspect in a case of money laundering and forgery.
