Update: OM demands fine for opposition MP
WILLEMSTAD – The opposition MP for political party MFK, Amerigo Thode appeared before the court yesterday. He was suspected of violating official secrecy by recording a closed meeting last year with the Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT). After recording this classified meeting he broadcasted it on a radio station.
The Public Prosecution (OM) demanded a fine of 2,500 guilders. Alternatively, if the MP does not want to pay the fine, he will have to spend 25 days in prison. The OM also wants a two year probation for the MP. The court will rule on this case on January 8 next year.
