Update: Suspected MP did not resign, but will not attend parliament meetings untill his case is resolved
WILLEMSTAD – The Member of Parliament for the ruling party Pueblo Soberano (PS), Elmer Wilsoe will not resign from parliament. Instead, he will not attend the parliament meetings until his case has been resolved.
The MP is mentioned in a leaked document of the Detective Cooperation Team (RST), which indicates that he was the last person who hoknew the whereabouts of his political leader Helmin Wiels. He is suspected of being the person who tipped the assassins on the whereabouts of his political leader.
During a meeting at the party headquarters last Saturday, Wilsoe indicated that he will resign from parliament. “I did not do it, but I have a conscience and I must clear my name,” said Wilsoe to the party members.
Today in a letter to the President of Parliament Marcolino Franco, Wilsoe indicated that he will not resign, but said that he will step back and will attend the meetings until his case has been resolved. He will continue to receive his salary as MP, but will not be part of the meetings.
