Van Raak wants the Netherlands to interfere in Curacao’s gambling industry
WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch MP for the Socialist Party (SP), Ronald van Raak has asked the Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk and the Dutch Minister of Justice, Ivo Opstelten, about the close link between the government of Curaçao and the gambling industry.
According to the SP politician, every there are millions of guilders gambled on the island and it is becoming more every day.
Van Raak believes that the gambling industry in Curaçao is massively involved in money laundering and are paying political parties to stay out of the hands of justice.
The MP now wants the Netherlands to launch an investigation into party financing and the involvement of the gambling industry in the politics of the island.
As a member of the Socialist Party (Socialistische Partij) Van Raak has been an MP since November 30, 2006. He focuses on matters of home affairs, Kingdom relations, the Dutch Royal House and general affairs.
