Whiteman defends Carter’s position
WILLEMSTAD - The news of the appointment of Elisa Carter as a transition manager at the St. Elisabeth Hospital yesterday led to criticism within and outside the government. Especially the high salary, 35,000 guilders per month, and the fact that she does not live on the island sparked outrage.
Dr. Ben Whiteman, Minister of Public Health, Environment and Nature substantiates his choice by saying that this decision was not just out of the blue, but emerged from a highly critical report of executive organization Usona.
As transition manager Carter will monitor the financial situation at the hospital and the transition to the new hospital Hospital Nobo Otrobanda in the next two years. Minister Whiteman says that her contract has not yet been signed, but he's going to assume that she will accept this position.
