GroenLinks is of the opinion that the people of Bonaire are being forced not to vote

THE HAGUE – On Bonaire, opponents of the current relationship with the Netherlands, are putting pressure on the voters not to vote. This is according to member of Parliament for Groen-Links, Ineke van Gent.

She wants the Dutch Minister Liesbeth Spies to intervene so that the elections can go fairly and smoothly. Campaigners in Bonaire are retrieving invalid ballots from homes to show the dissatisfaction of people of Bonaire. They deny the fact that they are obligating these people to hand over their voting ballot, but GroenLinks is not convinced. According to Mayor Lydia Emerencia those who make themselves guilty of such thing can receive a maximum sentence of one year in prison.
