Thirty nine killed by explosion oil refinery Venezuela

CARACAS -  Thirty nine were reported dead at a gas explosion in the largest oil refinery in Venezuela. More than 5 people were injured. According to Stella Lugo, Governor of the State of Lara, the location where the refinery is, is prompt for more explosions.

The explosion took place in the Amuay refinery on the Paraguaná Peninsula. Together with two other refineries in the complex it is one of the largest refineries in the world. Firefighters and police are present to ensure security on the peninsula.

The explosion was caused by a gas leak. The fire still rages, but according to Lugo it is now under control. There is an investigation into the cause of the leak.
