Statement By The Hon. Premier, Mckeeva Bush – 13th December, 2012

GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman – My fellow caymanians and residents, as you are aware, I was scheduled to travel to Jamaica on Wednesday 12th- December for the conferral of an honorary doctorate upon myself and to give the commencement address to the student body at the university college of the Caribbean.

I feel obligated to honor this commitment and have decided to attend.  I will be returning to the island this Friday.

On Tuesday 11th-December at approximately 7 am members of the rcips attended my premises and office at home, which also serves as the premier's residence, with a warrant authorizing the search for government books and other related items, at which time i was arrested on suspicion of matters as outlined in the governor's and rcips press statements of the same day.
I have done nothing wrong and i shall not be resigning as premier.  I also wish to assure one and all that the Government continues to operate as normal. On the advice of my attorney and given the circumstances, i am unable to comment any further at this time.  However, i will make further statements in due course.

I would like to thank my many supporters, friends and family, especially those in the district of west bay for their prayers, visits and words of encouragement.

May god continue to bless you, your family, and these Cayman islands.
