All set for 30.000 walkers and runners in 17 countries to unite in 1 cause: The CIBC Firstcaribbean 2018 walk for the cure

WFTC 2017WILLEMSTAD - All eyes are on the major supporter of regional cancer organizations CIBC FirstCaribbean, as it hosts its annual Walk for the Cure to be held on October 20th in Curaçao. The walk, benefiting cancer organizations throughout the region, will unite over 22,000 passionate participants in 17 countries in which the bank operates this year, in a unified demonstration of their commitment to assist those affected by cancer.  All proceeds from this walk in Curaçao will be donated to the Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds.

The Walk for the Cure is now in its 7th year.  Over the past six years, the bank has raised over USD $1.75 million from the event primarily supported by generous corporate donors and diverse fundraising activities and events hosted by staff members of the bank.

All of the funds raised through Walk for the Cure and proceeding fundraising activities go to provide assistance, care and counselling to cancer patients and their families as well as to raise awareness through education campaigns across the region. The funds also help the various organizations to assist with the purchase and maintenance of equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.

This year CIBC FirstCaribbean in Curaçao will again partner with Always, Antilliaans Dagblad, Amigoe, BTP, Curoil, Extra, Hyundai, LBH Group, NuCuraçao Windparken B.V. and Tampax to stage the Walk for the Cure.

The walk will take place on October 20st and will start at 5.30p.m.  Registration takes place at CIBC FirstCaribbean at De Ruyterkade 61 on Monday October 15, Tuesday October 16th and Wednesday October 17 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Tickets will cost Nafl. 17:50 for adults and Nafl.10 for children. Before and after the Walk, participants can make use of the opportunity to do a free check-up of blood pressure and glucose measurements while kids can entertain themselves to the max in the kids area with bouncers.

Lysaira Ortela, Marketing Manager for CIBC FirstCaribbean in Curaçao said: “We are thankful to our partners in joining CIBC FirstCaribbean in bringing this 7th edition of the Walk for the Cure.  We invite everyone to join us in this enjoyable walk along the panoramic views of Punda and Pietermaai on Saturday October 21st.  We are confident that our community will again embrace this year’s Walk for the Cure and make it a great success, while together we will be supporting the valuable work done by Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds.”

The walk is held to coincide with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s CIBC Run for the Cure sponsored by the bank’s parent company, CIBC. CIBC has been supporting this event for 21 years, donating millions to breast cancer research in Canada.
