Community services on Flag Day

Avalon2WILLEMSTAD - On the eve of national Flag Day Monday, July 2, Avalon University School of Medicine, Curaçao rendered community services at Ebenezer church located on Oranjestraat.

“As a medical institution, we are committed to being involved in public health activities and Avalon3providing services to help and serve the local community.  As future physicians, this helps students in building communication skills, professionalism, and leadership skills,” said the University in a press release.

The services provided by Avalon students are screening the public for body mass index, blood glucose, and blood pressure.  Customers are counseled regarding the healthy lifestyle, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and influencing these modifiable risk factors.  This gives an opportunity for the students to understand the societal needs and healthcare issues.
